PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico – Dead last by three shots after a disappointing opening round, Majesticks fought back with a solid outing over the weekend at El Camaleon that would give them plenty of heart going into LIV Golf Vegas this week.

On Friday, nothing seemed to be going as planned, and a four-over aggregate, with none of the players breaking par, was a deflating start to the season. On a tight course, what did not help their cause was the one triple bogey and two doubles between them.

Whatever was said in the team room after the round, worked well. Co-Captain set the tone with four birdies in his first six holes in his round of 3-under 68, and Sam Horsfield closed with three birdies in a row to get to 2-under par. Lee Westwood made three birdies in his last seven holes to end with a 70 as Majesticks were the second-best team for the day at -6 after Smash GC’s -8.

The trend continued on Sunday, and Majesticks tallied 5-under to finish on a total of 7-under par and improve to ninth place. Westwood closed with four birdies in his last five holes for a 2-under par 69 round, his best round of the tournament, and Horsfield matched his effort with a five-birdie round.

Horsfield, who missed a majority of the season after undergoing a hip surgery, showed he was ready for the new season and was the best-placed among the Majesticks. He eventually finished tied 17th at 3-under par total.

Poulter was tied 28th at even-par, Westwood tied 32nd one shot behind and Henrik Stenson a further shot behind at 1-over and tied 36th place. The Swede’s frustration with his putting continued as he averaged 30.33 putts per round.
