Stenson Jeddah recap

KING ABDULLAH ECONOMIC CITY, Saudi Arabia – The struggle continued for Majesticks as they failed to convert some solid tee-to-green showing with putting difficulties.

Co-Captain Henrik Stenson summed it up: “That was not very good, was it?

“We need some serious thinking on how we can putt better. We will forget this outing as a team and concentrate on Hong Kong next week, where Ian (Poulter) is a former champion and Lee (Westwood) always seems to do well in Asian conditions.”

Co-Captain Ian Poulter was No. 2 in Fairways Hit, but tied 34th in putting average. Stenson was 10th in Greens in Regulation, but No.49 in Putting, a position he shared with Westwood.

Sam Horsefield, with two rounds of 2-under 68s, was the best placed among the Majesticks in tied 29th place.

Stenson was tied 31st with rounds of 68, 69 and 70, and he added: “On a personal note, I’ve been here seven or eight times and I’ve never done anything good. It’s like I’m always coming here with fairly low expectations, and it was the same this week.

“Still, got some positives out of how I hit the ball the last few days. It was a bit better than the past couple of tournaments. So, at least I am trying to look at the positives and will try and regroup and recharge and see if we can do something better in Hong Kong.”
